If you’ve followed us for any amount of time, you know that we’ve proudly worked with some of the best working line German Shepherd puppies in the world—dogs imported from top DDR and Czech bloodlines known for their structure, drive, and genetics.
But due to recent changes in federal policy, that chapter is closing.
CDC Ban on Puppy Imports Under Six Months
As of July 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has implemented a nationwide ban on the importation of puppies under six months of age. This ruling affects all breeds and applies to every country, including trusted neighbors like Canada.
This means that we are no longer able to import German Shepherd puppies into the United States for training, development, or resale.
What This Means for You
In the past, we’ve partnered with trusted European breeders to hand-select exceptional puppies with proven pedigrees and working potential. Moving forward, all our puppies will come from U.S.-based sources. This shift is significant—but not limiting.
We’ve spent years building relationships with a handful of highly reputable breeders here in the U.S. who share our commitment to quality, health, and temperament. These partnerships ensure that we can continue to source high-quality German Shepherd puppies with the genetics and temperament needed for protection, service, sport, and active family life.
The Future: Valor Haus German Shepherd Puppies
We’re also excited to share that we are developing our own in-house breeding program, Valor Haus German Shepherds. Our mission is to produce top-tier DDR and Czech working line German Shepherd puppies right here in Boise, Idaho—puppies bred for real-world work and home protection.
Our breeding dogs will be:
- Health-tested (hips, elbows, DM, and Embark panels)
- Titled in a variety of venues (obedience, protection, service work)
- Raised from within our own program to ensure consistency and quality
We plan to launch our first litter in Spring/Summer 2026, and we already have names on our waiting list.
Final Thoughts
While we’re disappointed by the CDC’s restrictions, we see this as an opportunity to build something even better—right here at home. Our U.S.-bred German Shepherd puppies will uphold the same world-class standards our clients have come to expect.
