Valor Protection Dogs

Our breeding program is an extension of what we have been doing through Valor Protection Dogs for years. We have imported German Shepherds from working lines in Europe, raised and trained them, and sold them to our clients. Over the years, we have developed a clear idea of the type of dog we like and want to produce.

When the CDC stopped allowing Americans to import puppies from Europe, we decided to start our own breeding program here in Idaho. We primarily work with Czech and DDR (East German) working lines and focus on producing dogs that have the temperament, structure, health, and working ability we value.

Our German Shepherds

Our German Shepherds are primarily East German DDR and Czech working lines. We choose dogs that are sound, stable, confident, intelligent, versatile, structurally correct, orthopedically sound, and beautiful.

We like dogs with enough drive and ability to work, but with the temperament and off-switch to live well in a family home. Our dogs are well-suited for a variety of roles including family companions, personal protection dogs, sport, and working service dogs.

On top of being enjoyable, our dogs are also beautiful. They are large with big heads and strong bone, and they command attention everywhere they go. Historically, our largest dogs have also been our fastest and strongest dogs.

This is the type of dog we want to raise and train, so that is the type of puppy we are producing. We select one puppy from every litter to raise for 12 to 24 months in our protection dog program.

We believe a video is worth a thousand words. Over the years, we have uploaded more than 700 videos to our YouTube channel to highlight every aspect of raising, training, and living with our German Shepherds.

We keep our breeding program small and raise only a few litters each year. Quality over quantity. By keeping our program small, we are able to spend time with each of our adult dogs while also raising puppies thoughtfully and intentionally. Below are our current and upcoming litters.

Expected birth date: December 2026
Expected go-home date: February 2027

Litter updates:

Sept 25th 2026: Freya has come into heat one month earlier than expected. We have plans to breed her to Bear the week of October 12th. Stay tuned for more updates.

Summer 2027 Litter — Freya II × Bear

Expected birth date: June 2027
Expected go-home date: August 2027

Breeding plans and timelines are subject to change based on breeding success and the best interests of our dogs.

Puppy Price

$6,500.00

We breed the type of German Shepherds we want to own, train, and use in our own protection dog program. We put a lot of thought into the dogs we choose to breed and what we want from each pairing.

Our puppies come with a health guarantee, veterinary records, a microchip, AKC limited registration, and lifetime breeder support. Puppy buyers also receive access to our Puppy Head Start online training program to help them raise their puppies well.

Our Waiting List

Placement on our waiting list requires a signed contract and paid deposit. Puppies are placed with buyers in order of waitlist number, requested timeline, and puppy preferences for sex, coat, color, and temperament. Our German Shepherd puppies are typically spoken for in advance.
